Dubai Opera will offer classical music lovers a taste of Swiss excellence on Sunday 14th May, as Dubai’s most spectacular venue hosts two Swiss maestros in a concert organised as part of the VIP Classical initiative, presented by SAMIT Event Group. Violinist Maria Solozobova will team up with pianist Christophe Berruex for an evening celebrating the very best of the rich repertoire that has been created for these two instruments. The duo open with César Franck’s famous Sonata in A major for Violin and Piano, one of the most renowned entries in the genre, followed by the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso from Camille Saint-Saëns, a rousing and energetic work written in 1863. Following a brief intermission, the Swiss artists return with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 8 in G major, the third of his Opus 30 set. The programme then concludes with Edvard Grieg’s beloved Violin Sonata No. 3 in C minor, Grieg’s third and final violin sonata, and the last completed piece of chamber music that the composer wrote.
