On Sunday 23rd April, Dubai Opera shall host the renowned Italian pianist and conductor Epifanio Comis, a multiple award-winning artist and Artistic Director of the ConcertFest Accademia Pianistica Siciliana festival. Presenting Sicilian Musical Evening as part of the VIP Classical initiative, which is being organised by SAMIT Event Group, Comis opens the concert with Muzio Clementi’s idiosyncratic Sonata in G minor, followed by Frédéric Chopin’s Polonaise-fantaisie in A-flat major, an 1846 piece that is noted as one of Chopin’s most intricate and detailed works. Two works from Franz Liszt come next, both taken from his seminal ‘Années de pèlerinage’ (Years of Pilgrimage), starting with the ‘Deuxième année: Italie’ and followed by the famous Tarantella in G minor. After the interval, the concert will come to a close with another piece from Liszt, namely his Sonata in B minor, a work that has become universally accepted as one of the highest pinnacles of Liszt’s oeuvre.
